Attend Hands Up United's Graduation ceremony for their first Roy Clay Sr. Tech Workshop:
On March 15th, 2015 Hands Up United will host a graduation ceremony for their first Tech Impact class, The Roy Clay Sr Web Development and Entrepreneurship Workshop, a six-week intensive program aimed at teaching selected St. Louis candidates HTML, CSS, WordPress, PHP, JavaScript, and consulting skills with the goal of strengthening local, black-owned businesses, as well as nonprofits and other social movements in the area.
Students will showcase their work during their graduation ceremony taking place at LockerDome. The graduation will take place from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and is free to the public.
Businesses and Organizations being showcased:
- Ferguson Burger Bar - Charles and Kizzie Davis are residents and small business owners in Ferguson. They kept their business open throughout the highs and lows in the community in order to show solidarity with the people in the area. They aim to launch a website to help create a stronger brand and create more clients. The owners would also like to promote their catering services.
- Potbangerz - As one of the most creative cake designers in the St. Louis area and considered to be the cook of the movement, Mama Cat is launching a website to promote her cake designs and catering service. Her role in the movement has always been to provide nourishment to community supporters on the ground as a way to strengthen activists and provide love.
- Don't Shoot Coalition - This local coalition is made up of 50 diverse organizations speaking with one voice so that the Greater St. Louis area can become a model of justice for all across of the United States. The organization aims to revamp their website and position their brand as a leading activist group in the movement.
