Voting isn't the end all be all to our quest for freedom, but it is a tool. We believe we must exhaust ALL options to achieve the goals of our community. The Polls Ova Police campaign is about investing in our local communities. At this point the national elections have been completely hijacked by the people we oppose on all sides. It is evident that more police on our streets isn’t the solution to ceasing the violence. It is more critical to create safety via people in offices that represent our interests; a divestment from politics as usual does not mean we have ruled out the power of hitting the polls in number. A resistance front without political contributions outside of protesting is short sighted and short lived.

Our local communities will be transformed after this election one way or another. Our talents are capable of re-­imagining the outcome of this election for the greater good of our people. We will not funnel resources and energy into a stale presidential election that does not represent our interests. The revolution lives through the efforts of grassroots workers and campaigns right here at home.

Our backyard has set the tone for the national agenda. We will use this campaign to uplift the voices of the future. Every issue affecting our lives must be challenged. The broken systems and policies that police enforce must be challenged. While we may not be able to vote them away, we will use the polls to challenge state sanctioned violence and inequities at every turn.

We will not vote in favor of any candidate partnering with those who are not fighting for Black life. Polls Ova Police is the war cry of this generation.
